Summary of topics

§Social networking- Websites that allow people to socialize on a daily basis. These websites usually allow people to share information with each other including videos, pictures, information and voice notes. These websites are usually free for basic use and only require payment for special service. The original intent of these websites was to allow others to socialize easily without the hassle of having to concern ones self with matters such as cost. Examples of these sites include MSN, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap-chat etc.

§Media sharing- Services that allow people to share different types of media such as videos, pictures, text, music etc. There are a number of services that allow users to do so. These services range from social networking sites such as YouTube and Instagram to web browsers that have been specially modified to make sharing easier such as Torch and Google Chrome. These web browsers usually share through other social sites such as Facebook. Usually these sites have addition social features such as profiles, liking and commenting etc. In order to share users would often have to create accounts, however there are instances where you would not have to create an account such as ask.fm.      

Reasons for choice

§The reason I have chosen Social Networking Sites and Media Sharing was, because I believe the two are the most closely related and wish to elaborate on how they work together. Also I often use such features myself so I believe I have the most knowledge and experience between these two topics in comparison to the other four. Information on these topics are also widely spread across the internet making it easier to find information. 

   The original idea of social networking was to allow users to interact more easily in a way that it has never been done before with a minimal or no cost. Nowadays the original intent still stands, however a number of social networking sites are more considered with business and have become a business in there own right. Other companies will use these site to send messages and information about their new products in the form of advertisements. In order to do so these companies would have to pay the owner(s) of the site(s) a substantial amount of money? This is one of the reasons social networking sites have become so popular

   

We have conducted extensive research on a number of articles. By doing so we have discovered a number of psychological effects that re-occur with the users of social networking sites. We plan on using these effects to our advantage in order to promote our product to a wide audience. In order to promote this further we plan on incorporating the idea of media sharing devices in order to aid our goals.

Through this research we have learned how to comprise ideas for our product as well as plan out how it will be promoted in the near future. Since we were able to do this we are now able to take precautions on the subjects goal.
